I made this little removable ore load for my HOn30 hopper that I just finished building…

I’ve done these before…they work well, are lightweight, & can be done in any scale…

I started by cutting a piece of foam to fit inside the hopper…



I sand the top so it’s kind of rounded, paint it black, & glue on some coarse sifted dirt that hopfully looks something like iron ore…



Here’s the hopper with its load in place…



I’ve used this same method to represent loads of coal, gravel, & scrap metal in N, HO, & O scales…

I like the idea of being able to remove the load and change it for different kinds of freight. One day haul ore, the next watermelons, then coal or what ever. Great Idea Drew, that one should be boxed and sold!
