Great work, Chris... I like the old wall section, it gives the area a "dated" look that really is neat.

Its good to see the layout come back to life, I just spent the past while going from page 1 to present, very nice. Any DCC in the works yet?

Thanks Lynn I often go back and see where this layout came from LOL!
You must be reading my mail Lynn I have just started dropping the feed wires down below the bench every 3 ft before I cement in the scenery.
So all the wiring to power every bit of track will be in.
I hope to operate both main lines Traction and steam/diesel off the same controller with DCC.
Before that happens I have a lot of reading to do from Beas and Howard re fitting in decoders.
But hey this is a never ending build.

It really is a great read through, Chris! I've gone back through it a couple of times myself.

Chris,
I just reat through the thread tonight and am wondering how your switch (turnout) controls work. Do you use Peco with the snap action, or do you have some other way to keep the points closed???
When I started reading I thought you would be long gone from the thread, but glad to see you are still going. I was shocked at how you could just rip out areas. You ripped out more than I have ever done on my own stuff.
This site did get me going on a cerial box building and will try to get some pictures posted soon. It is a simple start but I am such a proud papa of the little store.

Hi there Glenn, Glad you had a look at what I have been up to on my own layout.
Peco switches are what I use and try for manual throws where ever possible. keeping the snap clip in place.
I have two peco switch electric throws operating in unison on the back freight rank.
As to ripping things out It is faster than putting thing in, and it has to be right , with overhead I do change my mind more than the steam diesel line , when the wire is put up I needed that to be right first time.
The n scale station i have posted for you to see what a late friend Robin could do with a cereal box and corrugated cardboard. He inspired every one.
Really looking forward to your building Glenn i wish I had time to do that , one day maybe.

Thanks for the quick reply Chris.
I see you have guide blocks for you through rods, but what keeps the end in the turnout bar itself? It just must be too simple for me to see. I keep wondering why the finger pull with a bit of plastic tubing doesn't just fall over.
Glen

Hi Glen, the control rod is angled 45degree at both ends, at the switch end the wire goes through the center throw arm of the switch, that will keep the rod standing up at the other end.
The other switch that i did a quick repair on by making a small loop to go .around the knuckle of the throw arm also keeps the other end up
