As far as staging or a yard, if you have enough depth/width in the layout, about 30" or 36", you can move your background buildings and or your backdrop for the layout forward about 6" and have room for two, maybe three, staging tracks. With double-ended staging behind the "scenery" so to speak, you can stagger trains and, if you can get one where you have 0-5-0 acces to it you can even alter the consists between operating sessions. That's one thing I'm trying on mine, now that I have a large enough room. [edit] And I think you can do the same with your trolley line as well; I'm working on that now, designing it anyway.

Thanks Ike, Unfortunately I have used all the space at the back for a double track and a huge layover track for the steam/diesel line.(3tracks in all)
Also my layout is built for more traction running and operation as the steam /diesel line was ment to be a run through.
But now I will add small yard.

Hi folks, it is now November 2nd, Gareth aka romcat and I have been busy planning out this yard, and we come to a plan we both like.
This is really Gareths baby, and I think he is enjoying the challenge it is giving him.
I am just laid back and holding the reins so to speak .
We will be installing a fold down Y.
Here are a few pictures of the area with some track loosely laid.

Hey Guys:
Having succesfully originated a back history for the Steam Subsidiary of Chris's traction layout;
The West Hill & Durham or as the crews call it:
"The Wee Hell & Damnation!"
Expected roster:
USRA 060 for the classification yard
2-6-0 Mogul
2-8-0 Consolie Camelback
Athearn Hustler from the Fred & Ray shops "Suzy-Q"
We decided that the name should fit the working acronym for this thread.
B.A.T.L and so after some research and map reading, and commiserating, we agreed to a name.
And so without further ado, well you'll have to ado a bit longer for the RR's Brass-hat to tell you in his own posting!!!
I can tell you though that we made a curious discovery that the turning wye off the new classification yard put us one bridge span from a port facility on the other side of the hall (lake Ontario shoreline) with car ferry, grain silos, pier, well you get the idea

Bowmanville Ajax Toronto Line.
We battel for your business.
Gareth has done a splendid job on his research, and imagination.
And given the layout lots of reasons to work.

Hey Guyz:
With the addition of a modular wall/linear unit (something I can take home and work on...)
We now have the:
"BATL, WHaD & (Port of Oshawa) PoO"!
if the names get any funnier we'll have to go on the "Colbert Report"!
