I finished my new lights (sort of) in the new train room and decided to give it a try. I have 3 double tube 4 foot florescents and 2-75 watt adjustable spots in a 12 by 8 foot room. I think I need another four footer. But it's much better than what i had before. So here's some samples.

Excellent colour rendition Fred. are those straight from the camera or colour corrected? Either way, jolly nice!

Dang, Fred. You are moving right along, and some fantastic modeling! I love it! Butkiss any relation to Dick? I used to watch them practice at St. Joe, with Gale Sayers and Brian Picalo I'll bet you can find some nice beaver pics on the internet.

Hi Fred you look good for an young/old (*&*(_)__%*.
A nice scene,
I have to think of the lighting in the new room.
Have you ever tried useing a trouble light only, and moving it around to cast shadows?
I love creating the evening effect with long shadows.

Kelvin and Hobbs, right? Actually I haven't a clue. I have read on other forums to not use this, it's too blue, or this, it's to yellow. Daylight tubes are too expensive. So... I mix them up. I have 2 cool white 40 watts, 1 cool white 25 watt, and 3 25 watt shop lights, along with two 75 watt incandesent soft white spots. There was also some real solar light coming in the widow. A nice cheap mix. A bit of everything in moderation is the example of the day. Fred

You know I sprung for a couple of those daylight blubs and didn't like them, there 5200K, they didn't look like any daylite I've ever seen. So I returned them. Got some cool white plus that are 4600K and they look alot more like daylite to me.

I'm a little color blind in one eye. So I just buy what's cheapest, and either let the auto white balance on my digi cam sort it out, or I calibrate it on a white sheet of paper. The latter works best, and even get's good shots in mixed lighting.
