| In 1964, the Great Slave Railway (now part of the Canadian National Railway) from Edmonton, Alberta, reached Hay River and the mining site of Pine Point. With 129 kilometres of rail line within its boundaries, the Northwest Territories can lay claim to Canada’s most northern rail head. |

I was able to get a pretty crummy picture off the google book site which i could only screen print onto a word doc. if you cn reada word doc, I'll email it.
They had 4 GP9's and were set up on an automated system. The pics are black and white but it appears to ne a CN loco with slave divisional markings.
Here's a semi related link. it shows early travel to the region in an interesting vehicle. Kinda like a slide show.

So far as ease in modeling, i wouldn't count on it. there is lots of scrub and muskeg tho. You'd be surprised at the summers.
