A female councilor has called for the foreclosure of the properties of Philippine National Railways (PNR) located along Riles ng Tren crossing the city of Manila for non-payment of real property taxes.

PNR The Sun Star (Papanga) reprts: Board member to railway firm: Compensate Apalit e

Local politicers are fighting for squatters rights on the PNR's right of way.

"APALIT -- Pampanga Fourth district Board Member Nestor "Bay" Tolentino reiterated Sunday his appeal to officials of the Philippine National Railway (PNR) to justly compensate encroachers living along the McArthur Highway, particularly near the Sulipan Bridge here.

Tolentino said some 30 families visited him to air their concerns regarding the ongoing construction of the Sulipan bridge and the North Rail project.

He said the encroachers fear that they will not be justly compensated by the PNR because most of them do not have "contracts of lease" from the said government agency. "
