PNR: Major Philippines Railways construction begins soon
Posted by knudsen on Saturday, February 19, 2005 (15:48:35) (743 reads)
ABS-CBN (abs-cbnnews.com) reports "Work on North Rail project starts March" This is a major construction project to expand the railservice on the main island of Luzon. With a half billion Gringo Bucks in their hands, we should see a nice rail system in place. There have been many delays, many as a result of indecision about what to do with the relocation of over 7000 squatters who have moved onto the right of way while this part of the railway was dormant.
"North Luzon Railways Corp. president Jose Cortez is optimistic that the National Housing Authority (NHA), the government agency in charge of the relocation of squatters will meet the February 28 deadline for them to start the much-delayed project."
Local polititions support the rights and humanitary treatments of the 7000 votes, erm, I mean people.

Painting LPB HOWTO!
Posted by knudsen on Friday, February 18, 2005 (17:31:57) (432 reads)
Thanks to Jim Marksbery, we have a nice HOWTO on Painting LPB. I love those "O" Scale Circus Craft LPB, what a bargain they are. With positionable arms, spare heads and a littel immagination, you can make an inifnate number of sitting LPB. Too bad the HO version is not as nice. The HO has all fixed features.

MSNBC: Reality video: Train seen smashing truck
Posted by knudsen on Thursday, February 17, 2005 (15:32:12) (514 reads)
A guy was filming a RR crossing in CA to prove a point: It's dangerouse.
"A video being taken to show the dangers of a railway crossing ended up capturing the real thing when an Amtrak train smashed through a truck carrying strawberries in Oxnard, Calif. "
Yet another reason to only play with toy trains. See The Video.

My thoughts on what we want this site to be and how you can help.
Posted by fred_m on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 (01:44:57) (272 reads)
We are currently looking for content and posts on the forum. Write up a
little how to with pictures in text and we see if we can get it published
for you The site isn't so much a new forum as it's a whole new way of
thinking. What we are trying to figure out and do is publish a
continiouly updated e-magazine site where not only can the newbie go to
get answers, but the old scratch builder can go for ideas. So we need
anything at present, from how to clean lokey wheels to building
mega-structures from play dough. Post your thoughs in the comments for this article. Thanks, Fred / dash10

Märklin Museum burglarized
More than 100 historic pieces stolen from collection
On the evening of January 18, 2005, persons unknownbroke into the Märklin Museum in Göppingen, Germany, and stole more than 100 historic trains and other models from the museum’s collection. The stolen items, valued at more than $1 million, include O and no. 1 gauge trains and ship models produced prior to 1910. The burglars also took prototypes of OO/HO scale trains and the museum’s oldest piece, a model train produced in 1891. Look for them on ebay soon. Fred
